B’s Glorious Green Smoothie

IMG_3636

I was recently gifted the Rolls Royce of blenders – the Vitamix (I know, lucky right?) and since then I’ve become a smoothie-making machine!

I’ve tried so many different recipes; from Google searches to smoothie books, to just winging it myself.

And let me tell you, it hasn’t been all roses and sunshine! I’ve had my share of gagging episodes unfortunately. 🙂

Luckily I did come across a few winning recipes that have now become staples in our household and that I am more than happy to share with all of you here.

Just a few notes about the ingredients…

#1. Remember to use as many organic ingredients as possible to reduce the amount of toxins.

#2. Thoroughly wash your fruits and veggies in water, baking soda and vinegar.

Enjoy!

Ingredients:

2 C very cold water (or add ice)

5 cucumbers

5 large leaves of romaine lettuce

Large handful of fresh spinach (or 3-4 cubes of frozen spinach)

2 celery stalks

1 apple

1 banana

1/2 fresh lemon, peeled, seeded

1/4 C chopped parsley

Green Smoothie

Directions:

1. Add first 5 ingredients in the same order as above in blender.

2. Start blending on low speed, blend until smooth.

3. Slowly increase speed – add rest of ingredients until smooth.

4. Eat your smoothie! Store the rest in airtight bottle in the fridge for 2 days.

Enjoy!!
